Willpower vs Environment

Mindest is the game! You hear me say this all the time, but is it really?

What if your environment is the real thing holding you back?

You see, our thoughts happen both consciously and unconsciously. There are thoughts and ideas that we’re aware of, and ideas and thoughts that we’re not.

Unconscious thoughts include things like:

  • If i’m overweight, I don’t have to be as social.
  • I don’t deserve to look good.
  • I’m not worthy of self care.
  • Eating unhealthy food makes me feel good.
  • Etc.

Self assessment if extremely important, but it takes time to create awareness. Hiring a badass coach can make this process a lot more enjoyable. Changing your environment is a process that starts with looking into your daily routine.

These things include but are not limited to:

  • Waking up / Going to bed at a consistent time each day
  • Consistent workout schedule
  • Time blocking your day / week
  • Planning ahead for work, travel, etc.

After assessing your daily routine and lifestyle habits, we can then begin to add tools to our tool belt. These tools will allow us to further our education on anything and everything. These tools will allow us to be accurate and consistent. Most importantly, these tools will allow us to continue on the lifelong journey of personal development.

For example:

  • Logging / Measuring Food
  • Gym membership
  • Hire a Nutrition Coach
  • Books, podcast, videos, etc.

Last, but definitely not least, we need to assess the people in our life as well as the house we live in. Are you surrounded with positive people or negative people? Is your house full of junk food? Do you have a supportive significant other? Do you have supportive friends and family?

Becoming proactive in our approach is vital to changing your environment. Taking action on the things that are inhibiting your from moving forward is key.

Trouble getting to the gym? Get home equipment.

Vegetable / Fruit intake nonexistent? Buy frozen veggies / fruits to have available at home.

Staying up to late watching TV? Cancel your cable.

These are just examples, but i’m sure I could go on forever. The point is, where there is a will, there’s a way. We simply must create awareness. Awareness creates an opportunity to take action and make a change. Sometimes we get caught up in all of the fancy marketing and fad diets and forget about the things that matter most. Our social environment, our house, our habits, and daily routine are what determine the life we life. Set yourself up for success by removing the junk food from the house, start exercising and becoming more active, and give the TV a break. That would be a great start!

By making small changes to the life you live, you are able to start living the life you deserve.

Thriving vs Surviving

Simply creating awareness and planning ahead can either make problem behaviors inconvenient or healthy behaviors convenient.

In the battle of knowledge vs environment, you can have all the knowledge in the world, but our environment is what ultimately determines our success with nutrition.

Live YOUR best life!
